Radiation Therapy

Director: Sue LaRue, DVM, PhD, ACVS, ACVR

The radiation therapy program at the Animal Cancer Center offers radiation treatment services for both clinical and research cases. A new Varian Trilogy System for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic radio-surgery was installed in September 2007 and is fully operational. A dedicated group consisting of Dr. Susan Larue, veterinary specialist in radiation therapy and surgery, Dr. Fred Harmon, medical physicist, and a fully trained technical staff run this machine.

Colorado State University is the only veterinary institution in the world with this type of capability. Ttherefore, CSU is leading the way in improving radiation therapy not only for companion animals, but for people too.
